Birth in Motion Workshop
Birth in Motion – Two-Day Birth Preparation Workshop
Birth in Motion is a two-day birth preparation experience inspired by Janet Balaskas’ Active Birth approach and enriched by my work as a doula and by other important influences along my path.
This workshop combines evidence-based knowledge, movement, emotional preparation and body awareness, helping women and birthing people prepare for birth with confidence and understanding.
Birth is not only a physical event. It is also a transition that involves the body, the mind, the emotions and the soul. Birth in Motion is designed to support women and birthing people, together with their partners and support people, in preparing for this experience in a grounded and practical way.
At the centre of this workshop are four essential elements that I believe support a positive birth experience:
Knowledge – understanding how birth works and how the body supports the process.
Intuition – learning to listen to the body and reconnect with inner wisdom.
Support – creating a supportive environment and learning how partners and support people can actively help during labour and beyond.
Self-trust – developing confidence in your body and in your ability to give birth.
Together these elements form the foundation of the workshop:
KISS – Knowledge, Intuition, Support and Self-trust

There’s an indescribable and strong power that rises when women gather together. A woman’s circle is a powerful collective space that supports deep personal, emotional and spiritual growth.

Frequently Asked Question
This workshop goes beyond information — it is an experience of reconnection.
The focus is on the natural physiology of birth and how your body and your baby work together with deep intelligence when supported by trust and presence.
You will also learn how to adapt what you discover here if unexpected situations arise. Still, our foundation always rests on what becomes possible when birth is allowed to unfold naturally.
Absolutely!
Birth is a shared experience, and your companion’s presence can make a profound difference.
Throughout the workshop, we explore the role of the partner/ companion in depth: how to offer touch, comfort, reassurance, and grounding presence. You’ll have space to practice together, discovering what feels right for both of you and building confidence as a team. Partners often say that this experience helped them feel more prepared, connected, and calm for the big day.
Partners and support people (up to two companions for each woman or birth person) are invited to attend Day Two of the workshop, which focuses on understanding birth and learning practical ways to offer support during labour.
Yes, you are very welcome to attend on your own.
Birth in Motion is designed for people preparing on their own as well as those coming with partners or support people. The workshop creates a warm and welcoming environment where everyone can participate comfortably.
If you attend alone, you will still be fully guided and supported throughout the practical exercises.
During the two-day workshop you will explore:
- How birth physiology supports the natural process of labour
- How movement and positions can support comfort and progress
- How hormones influence birth and how to work with them
- Breathing and relaxation techniques
- Ways partners and support people can help during labour
- Emotional preparation and building trust in your body
- The connection between intuition and informed decision-making
The workshop is built around four essential elements that support a positive birth experience: Knowledge, Intuition, Support and Self-trust (KISS).
The first day is dedicated to emotional preparation and connection between women.
Many women find that being in a women-only space makes it easier to talk openly about fears, expectations and personal experiences around birth.
This day creates a supportive environment where women can reconnect with trust and intuition before moving into the practical preparation with partners and support people on Day Two.
Yes.
Birth in Motion works very well alongside Hypnobirthing, NCT and other antenatal courses.
Many participants combine different approaches. Birth in Motion adds a strong focus on movement, body awareness and emotional preparation, helping you integrate what you learn in other classes.
Birth in Motion is a highly interactive and experiential workshop. Alongside practical information about birth physiology, you’ll be guided through movement, breathing, relaxation and partner support techniques.
There is also space for reflection, conversation and questions.
This is not a lecture-style course, but a space to learn through both understanding and experience.
Yes.
Birth in Motion supports you in understanding birth physiology and learning practical tools that can be used in many different situations.
Movement, breathing and partner support can still be helpful even when pain relief or medical interventions are part of your birth.
The workshop aims to help you feel informed and confident, whatever direction your birth may take.
